Across the pond, a big player in the US life insurance was suspended for violating the right of life-insurance policy holders to travel. In what the Office of Insurance Regulation (OIR) saw as a very massively high-profile incident of unfair trade practices American General, part of the American International Group turned down a congress woman’s application for life insurance because she had future plans for an international travel. American General Insurance said that it would ‘cooperate fully’ with the Florida Office of Insurance Regulation to make sure that it could continue to offer her the insurance to Florida’s residents and that it was always its intention to comply with the act which it has been accused of breaking.
