Because of latest technologies and up to date treatments available cancer stricken patients now have better chances of survival most especially if the cancer was detected earlier. But treating this kind of disease can be very expensive and the patient may have a difficult time financially. In the United States alone, Americans spend more than $100 billion every year and only 30% are covered by major medical plans. The expenses may include replacement cost for the lost income, child care including education, a special kind of diet, and expenses that may be incurred in traveling during treatment. Because of the high cost of treatment, basic medical insurance do not cover all expenses. Cancer insurance handles all the expenses.
